From award-winning author and former Gannett/USA Today and Fox Sports Ohio journalist Steph West comes her football drama Clean Break. West spent several seasons covering men’s and women’s athletic teams across high school, college, and pro sports.

In this coming-of-age football drama, Marcus Knight is an exceptional player who intends to use his talent to get him to college and become a doctor. Raised by a loving mother in a tough neighborhood, he’s never let his circumstances define his life. But when tragedy strikes and a wayward uncle comes to stay, Marcus goes down the wrong path and must decide between a life on the streets or one in the pros. Following his story is a young reporter with a lot of gumption and something to prove. Like the athlete she’s covering, she feels lost in a world that is more than willing to forget she exists.

Clean Break is loosely inspired by a series of stories West wrote in the early days of her journalism career.
