The Third Period is a feature-length drama and a book set in the world of ice hockey from writer/director, and former Fox Sports Ohio reporter covering the Columbus Blue Jackets and NHL, Steph West (formerly Steph Greegor). The story follows aging hockey star Mike Olsky, who must battle his way back from injury to win big in the third period of his life.

COLUMBUS — Author and screenwriter Steph West’s novel The Third Period was chosen as a gold medal winner Dec. 5 by the North American Book Awards in the Sports Fiction category. Books were selected across several categories for “…exceptional craft, originality, and excellence in writing, editing, and design…”.

The Third Period earned second place to West’s Clean Break screenplay in the Women in Film and Video New England Sports Screenplay contest. Both screenplays were selected by veteran producer Gia Galligani.
